We are pleased to welcome Dr. Michael Cosgrove to our team!

Dr. Cosgrove is an anesthesiologist double board-certified in pain management. He specializes in the diagnosis and non-surgical treatment of common spine, nerve and musculoskeletal conditions as well as acute and chronic pain disorders.

Dr. Cosgrove provides the latest interventional spine procedures including epidural steroid injections for the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine, caudal epidural injections, facet and sacroiliac joint injections, medial branch blocks and radiofrequency ablation.  He also provides implantation of neuromodulation devices at the spinal cord and/or dorsal root ganglion for patients experiencing more severe and chronic pain. He also conservatively manages medications when appropriate.  Dr. Cosgrove has extensive experience treating the injured worker and focuses on assisting in patients return to the workplace.

After graduating from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia in 1999, Dr. Cosgrove completed a general surgery internship at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego. He went on to perform two operational tours as a flight surgeon for the U.S. Navy serving multiple campaigns including in the Middle East.  After his service, Dr. Cosgrove began anesthesiology residency at Maine Medical Center in Portland. His personal and professional experiences with chronic pain led him to subspecialize in pain management with a fellowship at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in New Hampshire. He has since practiced in Huntsville as well as with a neuroscience center along the coast prior to joining Tennessee Valley Pain Consultants in 2022.

Patients can be referred by their primary care or specialty physician or via our request an appointment web option.  Dr. Cosgrove provides all patients with a thorough evaluation, diagnosis and individualized treatment plan with a goal of treating pain at the source.
